Amorphous Molecular Materials for Directed Supercontinuum Generation

Molecular compounds of the general formula [(RT)4E6] (R=organic or organometallic substituent; T=C, Si, Ge, Sn; E=CH2, S, Se), hence adamantane derivatives and inorganic-organic hybrid based on a heteroadamantane structure exhibit non-linear optical response upon radiation with continuous-wave near-infrared laser. The effect depends compounds’ habitus, which itself elemental composition cluster core, nature organic substituents. A combination these parameters that cause material to be intrinsically amorphous leads supercontinuum generation thus emission broad spectrum, potentially appearing as white light. Notably, essentially retains driving laser's directionality. For crystalline samples, second harmonic is observed instead, points close relationship properties intermolecular order. Variation R, T, E allows further fine-tuning emitted spectra. We present all studies made in regards effects our overarching conclusions derived from them.
